‘Light Barrier Third Edition’

Light Barrier Third Edition by duo Kimchi and Chips was commissioned by the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, South Korea. Kimchi and Chips play with creating volumetric drawings in the air using hundreds of calibrated video projections. The installation consists of 8 architectural video projectors that are split into 630 sub-projectors using specially designed concave mirrors. The concepts of birth, death, and rebirth inspired the animated sequences.

“The 6-minute sequence employs the motif of the circle to travel through themes of birth, death, and rebirth, helping shift the audience into the new mode of existence.” – Excerpt from Kimchi and Chips’ website
