Ilumina, an interactive 37-foot tall light sculpture, creates a communal experience from the collective heartbeat of the audience. The artist, Pablo González Vargas, created a dynamic way for the viewers to not only connect to themselves but others around them through a unique algorithm that finds the coherence of all the users’ heartbeats and uses it to create an audiovisual experience. Spectators are invited to plug into a heart monitor connected to the surrounding lounge chairs and meditate.
“During the experience, participants enter into a state of coherence, or deep harmony with themselves, one another, and the universe.” – Excerpt from the Ilumina website.
